At the sunny forest picnic clearing, Cat and Dragon tied the last patch onto their bright kite. They grinned—its very first flight was ready!

Cat and Dragon invited the brown rabbit, red squirrel, and young hedgehog to admire their bright kite. “Now let’s fly it!” cheered the neighbors.

Dragon held the kite while Cat raced along the winding path. The breeze caught it, and Cat tugged the string as it danced upward.

Then Dragon took a turn running, carrying the kite as Cat cheered. Up it soared, high above the path.

Suddenly, a strong gust swept the kite away from the clearing. It sailed into the tall willow, where its string tangled among the branches.

Cat climbed the willow trunk and stretched one careful paw. But the tangled string stayed just beyond reach.

Dragon blew a big puff. The kite wobbled, and its string twisted into an even tighter knot.

Dragon flopped onto the path. Cat paused, then said, “Maybe our kite needs gentle help.”

Cat would guide the string while Dragon made small, steady wingbeats. Between attempts, Dragon folded his wings so Cat could work safely.

Cat gently lifted the string while Dragon made tiny wingbeats. The first loop loosened, and the kite bobbed free of one branch.

Dragon folded his wings flat. Cat gave one precise tug, and the intact kite floated free into her waiting paws.

Back at the picnic, neighbors took turns flying the kite. It dipped near the sandwiches, then everyone laughed and settled beneath the willow for snacks.
