How it works

Three ways to create a story

Best for younger kids and first-time storytellers (around ages 3–6). Children create by choosing — tapping characters, places, and ideas — so imagination flows freely without the hurdle of reading or writing. Guided choices keep the cognitive load light while still letting every story feel like their own.

Perfect for pre-readers and busy moments. With almost nothing to decide, even the youngest child can spark a complete story in a single tap. It removes every bit of friction — ideal for tired evenings, short attention spans, or simply getting a reluctant starter excited about stories.

Built for confident, emerging readers and writers (around ages 7–11). Kids compose every page themselves, stretching vocabulary, narrative structure, and self-expression. It asks more of them on purpose — the reward is real authorship, with StorySafari illustrating their words rather than writing for them.

Questions parents ask

What ages is StorySafari for?

StorySafari is designed for children roughly ages 3–11, with stories you read together or your child reads along with.

How much does it cost?

StorySafari is free to download from the App Store, with options to create more stories inside the app.

What devices does it work on?

StorySafari works on iPhone and iPad. Just download it free from the App Store.

Can I print the stories?

Yes — you can order beautifully printed keepsake books of the stories your child creates.

Are there parental controls?

Yes. Grown-up actions — like buying credits or ordering a printed book — are protected behind a “Grown-ups Only” gate that asks for a number code, so kids can create and read on their own without stumbling into purchases. Every story is also kept friendly and age-appropriate for ages 3–11.

Can I limit how many stories my child creates?

Yes. In Parental Controls you can turn on “Limit story creation,” choose how often it resets (for example, each day), and set how many stories are allowed per period. StorySafari tracks usage — showing something like “3 of 14 stories used this day” — and resets the count automatically, so your child can create freely within the limits you set. Reading finished stories is always unlimited.
