If I Were A Tree

Would I be a colorful cherry blossom tree, with my flowers blooming?

Would I be in a rainforest where I could be part of the canopy layer, providing shelter for my smaller tree friends below me?

Maybe a Cacao tree growing in the Amazon basin! I would produce the seed with the world’s most antioxidants …. the cacao seed that is used in chocolate!

If I were a banana tree, would the mom chimpanzee climb to the top to reach the ripest fruit to feed her new baby?

Or maybe a Great Red Wood humbling those people attempting to hug me - I do love hugs!

If I were a tree would I be by the sea? A palm so skinny and tall! I can feel the wind blowing through my long leaves while I provide shade to the surfers.

Maybe I would be a Mangrove tree, part of a floating forest - protecting fishes from predators

What if I were a Georgia Peach tree right on the edge of town for kids to grab an afternoon snack?

Would I be the only tree in a field for tired birds to rest their tired wings?

A weeping willow with my branches just above a pond; inches from the earth's grasp.

If the stars aligned at night would I be there? Would I gaze upon the vast amazing beauty of this world waving back to those loneliest stars in the night sky?

If I were a tree …. I wouldn’t be me. But just like a tree, we all have a very special gift that we can give to this world.
