Rowan stepped into the Dragon’s Cave and stopped short. A tiny winged shape was tangled beside the golden treasure, scratching at the stones.

The shape was Pip the Baby Dragon, with one wing much smaller than the other. Pip flapped hard, but the uneven wings only spun Pip in a dizzy little circle.

Rowan picked up a smooth golden coin and rolled it across the floor. Pip chased it, then stopped when the coin bumped against a crystal hidden under the treasure.

The hidden crystal glowed whenever Pip’s little wing moved. Rowan gently held the coin near it, and a silvery feather-shaped light appeared on the cave wall.

Pip tried again, but the smaller wing wobbled and folded. Rowan placed the coin on the ground and showed Pip how to balance beside it instead of rushing into the air.

Pip copied Rowan and stood steady for three whole breaths. Then both wings fluttered together, lifting a swirl of sparkling dust—and the silver feather-light brightened.

A gust swept through the cave, lifting dust around the baby dragon’s uneven wings. Rowan planted his feet beside the dragon and gently helped it balance for one final, daring flap.

Pip sprang forward, and Rowan’s steady hand gave Pip courage. For one sparkling moment, the baby dragon sailed above the coins.

Pip’s little wing brushed the silver light. A warm shimmer curled around it, stretching the wing wide and strong beside the larger one.

Pip flapped once—and soared in a neat circle around the cave. Rowan laughed as crystal light chased Pip’s tail like a ribbon.

Pip landed beside Rowan without a tumble. The smooth golden coin glowed between them, no longer a sign of trouble but a tiny medal for trying.

Rowan hugged Pip, and Pip tucked both strong wings around Rowan like a soft green blanket. Deep in the Dragon’s Cave, the crystals shone quietly, keeping their happy secret safe.
