Jango dug in the wet, shining sand with his little blue shovel. Scrape, scrape! Beneath a smooth shell, the sand opened into a hollow. Inside it sparkled a strange, translucent hat, round as a bubble. Jango lifted it carefully, his eyebrows high and his mouth wide with wonder.
The sparkling hat bobbed above Jango’s hands. Up it floated, then down it settled, soft as a feather, over his head. A clear round bubble formed around his face. Jango blinked inside it, while his blue shovel rested in the sand. What a marvelous surprise!
Jango stepped into the gentle sea. Cool water swished around his ankles, and tiny ripples curled past his toes. He leaned close and took a breath. In and out! He could breathe perfectly inside the bubble hat. Holding his blue shovel upright, Jango grinned at the shining water.
Soon Jango drifted beneath the surface. Pale sunbeams danced over the sandy bottom, and shells gleamed below. A friendly golden-orange seahorse appeared beside him and pointed with its long snout. Silver bubbles spiraled downward in a sparkling trail. Jango hugged his shovel and followed his new guide.
Through tall, waving seaweed they swam. Green fronds brushed gently past Jango’s bubble hat, while stones and silver bubbles dotted the path. The seahorse glided ahead, its turquoise fins fluttering. Far away, a soft glow shimmered in the blue water, and Jango paddled eagerly toward it.
The silver bubbles led Jango and his guide to a shining coral gate. Pink and lavender branches curved into a grand arch, with pearl-like openings and glowing plants below. Jango hugged his blue shovel and stared in wonder. The seahorse curled beside the entrance, inviting him onward.
Inside the coral kingdom, rounded towers rose around a bright plaza. Shell-lined paths twinkled beneath Jango’s fins, but one little coral garden had gone dim. Jango looked worried through his bubble hat. Beside the dark patch, the seahorse lowered its snout and thought carefully.
They searched among branching coral and sandy patches. Then Jango spotted a shell-shaped channel buried under the sand. He knelt and brushed it clear with his blue shovel. The seahorse hovered close and noticed a faint golden glow trapped below. Perhaps the water was waiting to flow again.
Jango scooped the last sand from the channel while his bubble hat shimmered softly. Beside him, the seahorse blew a stream of tiny bubbles across the loose grains. Puff, puff! The sand drifted away, and the hidden channel opened before them.
Suddenly, water sparkled through the reopened channel. It swirled past the coral, and a few sleepy tips brightened like little stars. Jango floated back, holding his blue shovel across his chest with a pleased smile. Beside him, the seahorse curled joyfully as tiny lights appeared farther ahead.
The trickling water led them to a pathway paved with pale pearls. Jango swam along in his bubble hat, carrying his blue shovel, while the seahorse kept pace at his shoulder. Tiny glowing lights twinkled ahead, guiding them toward a deep blue shine.
At last, they reached a smooth moon-shell overlook. Jango stood beside the seahorse, his bubble hat shimmering and his blue shovel in hand. Together they gazed over coral rooftops toward the far blue-lit kingdom. The tiny lights waited below, ready to guide their next swim.
