The moon’s bedtime glow faded. Cat planted her paws in the grass, and Dragon tipped his head toward the dim moon. “Where did its shine go?”

A sleepy firefly named Luma drifted from the trees, followed by a winding line of golden lights. Cat lifted a paw. “Are you showing us the way?”

Cat stepped beneath the curling branches after Luma. Dragon came close behind, and together they followed the sleepy lights deeper into the hushed forest.

The fireflies led them to a clearing. A low cloud clutched every missing star beneath its folds. “Those are the moon’s!” Cat whispered.

“If I let them go, the sky might forget me,” the cloud murmured. Cat curled her tail around her paws and listened. Dragon pressed a foreclaw to his chest.

Cat rose on her hind legs and tapped the nearest star with one white paw. “Would you share just one?” Dragon smiled as the cloud’s folds opened a crack.

The first star floated free, laying a silver path across the moss. Cat grinned as Dragon gestured toward it and Luma led the fireflies in a dance above.

“Look,” Dragon told the cloud, “your star made such a lovely path that the fireflies are dancing beneath its light.” The cloud loosened its folds.

The cloud opened wider. More stars floated free, one by one, brightening new silver paths. Cat reached playfully toward them as Dragon lifted his foreclaws and Luma led the fireflies through.

The cloud opened wide and let its last stars go. Seeing Luma and the fireflies dance beneath them, it smiled. “The sky hasn’t forgotten me!”

Cat padded beside Dragon as he carried the stars’ gentle glow between his foreclaws. Following Luma, they hurried along the silver path toward the waiting moon.

Before the baby animals woke, the stars floated from Dragon’s foreclaws up to the moon. Cat lifted her paws beside him—and its warm bedtime glow returned.

With the moon glowing again, Cat spotted a tiny star trembling among the wildflowers. Dragon knelt beside her as she held one paw close, careful not to touch.

Dragon lowered his head. “You’re safe with us,” he whispered. Cat offered one careful white paw, and the star’s trembling eased until its glow grew brighter.

Luma arrived, followed by a winding line of sleepy fireflies. Lonely Cloud shared a sprinkle of starlight, and the little star glowed warmly between its new friends.

With their lights gathered around it, the little star unfolded a shimmering map. A trail of bright dots pointed from the meadow into the forest, toward a quiet hill.

“This dot first!” Cat padded onto the forest path, following the map’s first bright point. Dragon and Little Star followed close behind, while Luma led the fireflies and Cloud floated low.

Mist swallowed the trail, but Luma brightened her glow over Little Star’s map. Its next dots sparkled clear, and Cat hurried after them.

The map’s bright dots skipped up a slope. Little Star floated ahead, map open, as Cat climbed after them and Dragon followed with Luma, the fireflies, and Cloud.

The lights floated above the grass, but the map offered no place for Little Star. Its points drooped beneath an empty gap.

Cat batted a loose glow into place. The lights formed a leaping cat, with one star missing from its tail tip—right beside Little Star.

Cat pointed her white paw at the gap at the cat’s tail tip. “There!” Little Star recognized its place and shone steadily.

Dragon gently raised Little Star into the gap. Silver-gold lines joined the new constellation, and the Shimmering Star Map lay open in the grass.

Back in the meadow, baby animals gathered to make wishes beneath the constellation. Cat and Dragon watched Little Star twinkle at its tail tip, while Luma, the fireflies, and Cloud smiled.
