A sample StorySafari cat book

A sunbeam adventure for Nora and Mango

Mango loves warm laundry, chirping at sparrows, and chasing spots of light. In Nora and Mango Chase the Sunbeam, those little habits lead to a day of exploring with Nora. We made this sample with invented characters to show what you can create.

What makes your cat your cat?

Start with the little things you know by heart. Leo can help turn them into a story.

  • Your cat and your child. Use a photo or a description for each. A sleepy cat photo works too, as long as the face and coat are clear.
  • A favorite habit. The box they squeeze into, the homework they sleep on, or their spot by the window.
  • A place to begin. The adventure can stay in your apartment or go anywhere your child imagines. No idea yet? Ask Leo.

What changes in the book

A photo of your cat
The stripes, the white paws, and the folded ear make it into the drawings.
Your cat's name
Tuna, Pepper, or Princess Fluffington: the story uses the name you use.
A favorite spot
The windowsill or the laundry basket can be where the adventure starts.

An idea to get you started

“Pepper sleeps on Lily’s pillow and climbs into every cardboard box. Lily wants their latest box to become a spaceship.”
Start with a simple idea. Leo will help with the details.

Cat book questions

Our cat never sits still for photos. What should I upload?

Any clear photo where the face and coat are visible, even a sleepy one. If you have none, describe the coat pattern, colors, eye color, and size instead.

Will a calico or tortoiseshell coat come out right?

Name the pattern and where the patches are, such as an orange patch over one eye or a white bib. You see the cat character before the story starts and can adjust the description.

Our cat is indoor-only. Can the story stay inside?

Yes. Describe your home and your cat's favorite spots, and the whole adventure can happen between the couch, the windowsill, and the cardboard box.

Can our dog be in the cat book too?

Yes. The web creator takes up to three characters, so your child, your cat, and your dog can all be in the same story.

Can the book remember a cat we have lost?

Yes. The story idea is yours, so you can ask for a quiet story built around the things your family misses about them. You read every page before deciding whether to print.

How much does a personalized cat book cost?

Your first story and cover are free to preview. Illustrations start at $1 for 12 pictures, credited toward a printed book. A standard-color softcover starts at $7; hardcover adds $8 and premium color adds $3. Shipping, tax, and extra pages are added at checkout. Additional stories start at $7, paid before creating. No subscription needed.
